Dr. Wagner is a Professor of Business at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Kalamazoo, Michigan. There he teaches introductory business courses in general business, marketing, human resources, and Internet marketing concepts.
Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Wagner has served in various administrative roles at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), including: Career Services’ Employer Relations Specialist, College Wide IT Program Manager, and Director of Quality Assurance for Tri-C’s Workforce and Economic Development Division (WEDD). He began his college experience as a student at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) and eventually earned the privilege of teaching a variety of business and information technology courses at Tri-C. It is this personal and professional experience that fuels his passion for helping others through the variety of academic and non-academic programs offered at Cuyahoga Community College.
In addition to teaching at Cuyahoga Community College, Dr. Wagner has taught, as an adjunct professor, at Lorain County Community College, Lakeland Community College, and The University of Akron.
Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, Dr. Wagner enjoyed working with corporations such as KeyBank and PNC Bank. In the late 90’s, he entered the construction industry and worked with homebuilders to help make the American dream of home ownership a reality for hundreds of Greater Clevelanders. In 2008, he led a small business partnership to help homeowners with their home improvement needs.
Professor Wagner earned his Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from the John E. Roueche Graduate Center, National American University where he was trained by some of the best community college leadership scholars in the world. He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree in Systems Management from Baldwin Wallace University, a Bachelors of Business Administration with a dual major of Accounting and Finance from Cleveland State University, and an Associates or Arts from Cuyahoga Community College.
His contributions to the community include: serving as a member of Tri-C’s Speaker’s Bureau, Leadership Medina County’s Class of 2015, and volunteering with AFS’s Greater Cleveland Area Team. He has held the office of Toastmasters International’s Club Secretary and obtained the designation of Competent Communicator.
Joe aspirations include continuing his service to students, with particular focus on online and intercultural learning.
